Joyce Debuts Elisabetta in Don Carlo at Opéra de Monte-Carlo
This November, Joyce makes her role debut as Elisabetta di Valois in Don Carlo. Giuseppe Verdi’s score, among the most beautiful he has composed, illustrates a profound text where the struggles between religion and political power, between love feeling and duty, between friendship and reason of state are described with remarkable accuracy. During the various adaptations in Italian, Verdi will eventually condense his work into 4 acts in order to preserve all the dramatic tension. It is in this form that we will hear it in Monte-Carlo, served by a superlative cast, directed by one of the great names in stage direction: Davide Livermore. Performances will take place on November 22nd, 24th & 26th.
